Faithtime: Swarzy
Swarzy Macaly is a woman of phenomenal energy: aged only just over 30, she’s got eight years of radio presenting under her belt, first for KISS FM and now as host of the BBC Radio 1Xtra weekend breakfast show and the voice of BBC Sounds.
Alongside that she’s campaigned for the victims of the Grenfell disaster, against racism and climate change and for many other causes. And she and her new husband, Chiko, are still finding time to host a weekly dinner and Bible study.
In conversation with Liz Adekunle, Chaplain to HM the King, Swarzy tells the story of how she found Christ in the middle of a shoplifting incident and how her faith has shaped many of her big decisions ever since.
She talks about her Guyanese-Mauritian background, her search for belonging and how her Christian faith helped her find a path out of hopelessness and insecurity.
