Almost Beheaded for My Faith

In 2012 Manga, a young Christian from northern Nigeria, was attacked and almost beheaded by a group of armed men from the militant Islamist group, Boko Haram.

The militants broke into Manga’s family home one evening, ransacking the house, murdering his father and threatening his mother and sisters. Manga and his younger brother were forced to watch their father’s murder before the killers turned their attention to them.

The militants demanded the family renounce their faith, which they refused to do.

In an emotional, and at times shocking interview, Manga, who is now 33 years old, tells Mike Lanchin about his horrific ordeal and how it changed his outlook on life – and strengthened his faith.

“That experience changed how I see God, because I felt I shouldn’t be alive, I should have been dead,” Manga says.

He says that he can no longer to live in his hometown, or the region where he grew up; he now spends much of his time travelling around Nigeria and to different countries speaking about his experience and sharing his faith.

He was in the UK last year in a visit organised by the Christian charity Open Doors UK.
